Grilled corn with hoisin-orange butter

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Sweet, fresh corn always reminds me of August. That’s when the first ears of corn seem to be ready to be picked from the garden (not that I have any planted in my own garden…but I can pretend).

Bison burgers with avocado relish

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Have you ever tried ground bison meat? Tastes just like beef! (Bet you thought I was going to say chicken.)

And according to the experts, it’s healthier too. Antibiotics and growth hormones are not given to bison, according to the U.S.D.A, and it is much lower in fat and calories than both beef and chicken. It’s also supposed to be higher in nutrients.

Grilled sweet potato salad with jicama and blue cheese and chipotle-lime dressing

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

The ingredient list for this dish is pretty bizarre. I never would have thought to combine sweet potatoes, jicama, a spicy lime dressing and blue cheese together.

Tandoori-style chicken burgers

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Do you ever get tired of eating? Not that you’re not hungry, just that nothing really sounds that good?

It’s a sad feeling, I know. We live in one of the most bountiful places in the world, where we can eat just about anything we want. There are thousands of choices, which is more than what many people in the world have.

Ceviche

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Last week’s fresh veggie tote had a south of the border theme. That meant onion, garlic, avocados, jalapeno and pasilla peppers, cabbage and cilantro.

Perfect for tacos!

Fancy six-layer dip

Fancy six-layer dip!

I don’t care about the Super Bowl at all, but I do care about snacks. Which is why I’m telling you about this fancy six-layer dip.

I added “fancy” to the name because it’s way more hoity-toity than the average seven-layer slop people tend to serve up. Click to continue »

Chicken korma/Indian chicken curry

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

korma

In honor of Curried Chicken Day on Jan. 12, I decided to make my favorite at-home Indian food dish. The recipe is from Williams-Sonoma, and it’s called Chicken Korma in Williams-Sonoma Food Made Fast: Simple Suppers, and Indian Chicken Curry in Williams-Sonoma The Weeknight Cook. Not sure why they changed it, but it’s delicious just the same.

Have you ever had Indian food? It’s amazing!
