Surfing In Kansas

surfjet.jpgPoor landlocked people.

They’re always wishing they could be like us — with our big blue ocean and all. But then there’s that problem they always run into: They’re a gazillion miles from the nearest ocean.

But the little buggers try. Like, for instance, check out this surfboard with a motor on it. Since you need waves to surf, and since there are no waves in, say, Kansas, then the idea here is that you need another way to move a surfboard. And the easiest way to do that is by attaching a motor to it.

To be honest, there have been times when I wished I had a motor on the back of my surfboard — particularly while trying to paddle out on a rough day. But I’d sure hate to get hit on the head with that thing.

Of course, you don’t have to worry too much about wipeouts on a lake. Check out this guy getting the stoke in Canada.

If you can’t afford the SurfJet, which will cost anywhere from several hundred up to $3,000, you can always surf behind a boat, like this German dude. Of course, then you’ll have to buy a boat.

If you’re tired of that whole lake surfing scene, you can always find a surf machine, like this one in Ogden, Utah. And then there’s always the frozen river in Canada with the weird break.

Or you can forget the whole surfboard thing and just use your body.
