Who hasn’t wondered how Cal Poly receiver Ramses Barden would do against college football’s elite?
Barden (6-6, 227 pounds) — the all-everything record-breaking machine — will get that chance at the East-West Shrine Game in January.
He seemed reserved about it when we talked at the team photo session today, not overly excited.
Before you read his comments tomorrow in The Tribune, let me know what your projections are for Barden. How do you expect him to do in the Shrine game?

Barden will not only do well in the Shrine game, but he will do well playing on Sundays next year.

Look forward to his dominating play at the Shrine game as well as on Sundays!

I am Angry at the tribune for their lack of coverage of Paso Robles huge upset of El Diamante (2nd in central division 15 game winning streak CIF Champions)All they had was a tiny article in the news paper and yet after slo beats lompoc they get front page and a huge picture. Those boys deserve to be noticed after a win like that.

Sorry Bob, but those of you that look for information on high school football got the raw end of the deal when Joshua Scroggin flip-flopped with Erick Smith. Smith moved from Cal Poly to high schools and Scroggin moved from high schools to Cal Poly.
During his brief tenure doing Cal Poly sports (after Brian Milne moved on to whatever he is doing now) Smith did very little to report (NOT support) Cal Poly sports. It kind of looked like nobody told Smith that he was support to report on Cal Poly sports. Milne left just after the basketball season that that is exactly when the reporting stopped.
I do think that putting your note on Scroggin’s blog is the correct decision as I would bet that he at least passes on your sentiments to Smith. Scroggin has proved to Cal Poly sports supporters that he cares about Cal Poly sports including starting and maintaining his “Bloggin With Scroggin”.
Like I said, the SLO high schools got the short end of the stick on this one!!!

For the Shrine game, I’m guessing 3 rec, 80 yds, 1 TD
Also, I don’t know if anyone noticed, but Barden is closing in on some major I-AA national records (mostly held by the greatest of all-time, Jerry Rice). The closest record being most career games with at least one TD. He only needs ONE MORE to tie Rice at 26.
Also, consider the fact that last year, if he had only three more receptions, he would have shattered the record for most yards per catch for a season (for 60+ receptions, Barden had 57).
That’s amazing considering the talent that has come out of I-AA at the WR positions: Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Marquis Colston, and Vincent Jackson to name a few.
I say forget the Cal Poly records he’s breaking, let’s start looking at where he’s at on pace to break national records.

“I am Angry at the tribune for their lack of coverage of Paso Robles huge upset of El Diamante….”
Ya well what about when Atascadero’s Ross Tenhauff scored 5 touchdowns….and they showed MORRO BAY of all teams…. what’s up with the tribune and Morro Bay anyways… well looks like we’ll have to go to different news sources to find real sports reporting.
