Ramses Barden making Cal Poly a household football name

Saturday is a big day for Ramses Barden. It’s the 6-foot-6 Cal Poly receiver’s coming out party against top competition on national television… as long as the NFL Network counts.

Hey, you could probably go to a local bar, grill, grille, pizza joint, barbershop or any other business with big TVs to check out the Cal Poly big man in the Senior Bowl if you don’t have the Network.

Knowing what Barden’s done at Cal Poly, I’m very interested to see what he can do against NFL Draft prospects and eventually in the NFL.

Judging by the number of times Barden’s name has popped up in media reports this week, it seems like plenty of outsiders are intrigued by Barden as well.

Since fewer than a handful of Barden’s games were even regionally televised, there’s a dearth of information out there about the biggest senior receiver in the draft class.

There’s a feeding frenzy of first-time Barden viewers giving out their opinions this week, now that they can see him in person at Senior Bowl practice.

Here’s a paraphrased sampling: People are knocking his speed, praising his hands, knocking his speed, praising his speed, knocking his route-running, praising his body control — and more!

If you can’t get enough Barden either, here is a collection of links to read more, starting, of course, with The Tribune’s exclusive interview with Barden this week.

Hey thanks for following Barden this week. As a follower of Cal Poly football, and a Seahawks fan I do dream of them drafting Barden. It is true they need a big, physical receiver with good hands. Problem is thier GM likes to draft players from major programs and doesn’t pick up a lot of smaller school guys. I can still dream though.
