A solution at tight end?

titus.jpg

First, LeBron James’s football fantasy became reality in a TV commercial. Then, Kobe Bryant said he could be a wide receiver in the NFL.

Now, it’s Cal Poly center Titus Shelton. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound senior appears to be contemplating a tryout with the Mustangs football team, according to men’s basketball coach Kevin Bromley in a Mustang Daily report.

Let’s ignore for a moment that Rich Ellerson’s triple option offense didn’t have a tight end (new coach Tim Walsh’s just may). Shelton would have one year to play another sport under NCAA guidelines. So when he’s done with basketball this spring, he could theoretically play football next fall.

The guy certainly is ripped, though the criticism I’ve heard about LeBron and Kobe the past couple days centers around their toughness. How do you think Shelton could do?

I think that would be great I hope he does it. I’m sure he could be valuable to the team, whether in the games or in the scout teams during practice. Besides, he probably just thinks it’d be nice to be on a team that’s capable of winning a conference game.
