Toga! Toga! Toga!
June 3, 2008 comedy
“Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”
Remember that crazy toga party? The food fight? Or the time we sneaked a horse into Dean Wormer’s office? What about the homecoming parade?
Oh wait. That wasn’t us. That was “Animal House.”
Thirty years after audiences first followed the madcap adventures of the misfit Delta Tau Chi fraternity, “National Lampoon’s Animal House” has become part of our collective consciousness.
Most of us carry distinct memories of college pranks, wild parties and “double secret probation.”
Even folks whose higher education experiences were fairly tame (myself included) had a few less-than-tame adventures.
I attended college in Oregon just an hour up the road from the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, where “Animal House” was filmed. Although I don’t recall any extremely zany antics, I always wondered how many fraternities secretly upheld the National Lampoon standard.
Reminisce about your wild and crazy days or make new memories tonight at “Animal House.”
“Animal House” plays 7:30 p.m. at the Fremont movie theater, 1025 Monterey St. in San Luis Obispo, following a half-hour of games and trivia.
Tickets are $7.50.
