"Star Wars", Japanese style

You’ll never see “Star Wars” the same again
Back in the 1970s, mad genius Masato Shimon came up with his own disco version of the iconic “Star Wars” theme. With lyrics.
The result, first aired on the television show “Fountain of Trivia,” became a national hit in Japan. Now it’s available on YouTube, and, if possible, zanier than ever.
Disco “Star Wars.” With Japanese lyrics. No translation necessary.
Okay, if you actually want a translation, AltJapan.com has it here.
(Thanks to io9.com for the tip.)

I can’t utter the words “disco” and “Star Wars” without mentioning another YouTube gem: “Boogie Nights: Star Wars Edition.”
The much-loved viral video pairs the audio for the “Boogie Knights” trailer with clips from the original “Star Wars” trilogy. Watch and enjoy.

The Japanese have this uncanny ability to take the greatest products of American pop-culture and make them even better. Case-in-point:

Ironic that a film maker (Lucas) influenced by Kurosawa returns to Japan in a new form.
Yoda would say, “Complete your training is.”
