"Transformers" 2: Just say no

“Transformers” star Shia LaBeouf loves saying “no”

Michael Bay movies have never been known for their clever dialogue.

Admittedly, the characters in such action-packed classics as “Bad Boys,” “The Rock” and “Transformers” are usually far too busy dodging gunfire and explosions to engage in intense philosophical discussion.  Even during the movies’ quieter moments, however, talk tends toward the torpid.

Take this tender exchange from “Armageddon” between A.J. (Ben Affleck) and his girlfriend Grace (Liv Tyler):

A.J.: You know what I was thinkin’?
GRACE: What?
A.J.: I-I really don’t think that the animal cracker qualifies as a cracker.
GRACE: Why?
A.J.: Well, ’cause it’s sweet, which to me suggests cookie, and, you know, I mean putting cheese on something is sort of the defining characteristic of what makes a cracker a cracker. I don’t know why I thought of that, I just…
GRACE: Baby, you have such sweet pillow talk.

Boy, does he ever.

But Ben Affleck pales in comparison to Shia LaBeouf, star of the upcoming summer blockbuster “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”

The above video finds the actor spewing a constant stream of negativity in clips from the first “Transformers” movie, “Surf’s Up” and “Disturbia.” (He even used the “no” line during this appearance on CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman.”)

LaBeouf’s other films, which include “Holes,” “Eagle Eye” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” aren’t represented here. However, I’d imagine that he mutters “No no no no NO” in those flicks too.

I’m expecting a lot of “no’s” when “Transformers 2″ hits theaters on June 24.
