New YouTube video collects clips of every single film made in 2009

Get ready to play “Guess That Movie.”

Last December, filmmaker Kees van Dijkhuizen collected a year’s worth of movie clips in “2008: A Tribute to the Movies.”

Now he’s done it again with “Cinema 2009: 1 Year, 342 Movies, 12 Months of Production, 7 Minutes.”

In just seven minutes, van Dijkhuizen culls together footage from every single film released in theaters this year, ranging from big-budget blockbusters to kid-friendly comedies to indie flicks. He even manages to squeeze in multiple clips.

The whole thing is set to a hip soundtrack by indie darlings If These Trees Could Talk, Arctic Monkeys, Phoenix and Arcade Fire.  (You’ll recognize the latter tune, “Wake Up,” from the much-circulated trailer for “Where the Wild Things Are.”)

As van Dijkhuizen shared, “2009 proved that innovation is rewarded, and for that reason, I’ve decided no film should be left behind. I’ve nearly tripled the amount of footage used in ‘2008: A Tribute To The Movies.’”

Although the filmmaker’s 2008 tribute named specific films, there are no titles mentioned in the 2009 version. It’s up to you, the savvy moviegoer, to figure out which films he featured.

Good luck!
