Cal Poly student has found fame via a Superbowl Snickers commercial
Central Coast television watchers may have spotted a familiar face — err, back — during one of the Superbowl’s many commercial breaks.
According to local NBC affiliate KSBY, the guy who knocked down Betty White in a popular Snickers commercial was Cal Poly student Brad Sorenson.
In the commercial, Sorenson tackles the “Golden Girls” actress, knocking her (or rather, her stunt double) into a muddy puddle.
“Mike, what is your deal, man?” her fellow players ask. “You’re playing like Betty White out there.”
Betty chows down a Snickers bar and transforms into a grubby man in his 20s — right before we see a frail-looking Abe Vigoda (“The Godfather,” “Barney Miller”) get knocked to the ground.
Since it aired on Superbowl Sunday, the Snickers spot has become an online sensation.
I didn’t realize (the ad) would be number one. It’s awesome,” Sorenson told KSBY. “It was awesome working with Betty White; she’s a card.”
Sorenson, who studies viticulture at Cal Poly, is no stranger to the silver screen.
He served as a stunt double in “Friday Night Lights” and “Gridiron Gang,” and played a football player in the sports movie spoof “The Comebacks.”
