Okay, I’ve had it with this wind. Is there someone I can talk to about this — like God?
Yeah, yeah — I know. It’s spring. And it’s always windy here in the spring. But, come on. This is the Central Coast, people. What about all that ideal weather the Chamber of Commerce is always boasting about?
Every time a friend threatens to come out to visit, I’m like, “You should wait – it’s too windy.” Or “The rainy season is about to start.” Or “My wife hates you.”
Not only does this wind mess with my hair — which looks like a neglected shrub these days — it also messes with my surf plans. Because unless my board is attached to a kite, it ain’t happening on a windy day like today.
And now I’ve got sharks to worry about again. In the last week, two people have been killed in the Pacific Ocean by sharks, and that’s just not cool.
Granted, I’m always a little worried about sharks. But when I hear of an attack, I tend to tuck my legs in a little more the next time I’m sitting on a board. And if I see a dolphin come up near me, I’m like, “Oh, ship!” except, you know — I don’t really say “ship.”
That would just confuse the dolphin.
Not that I trust dolphins.
