When I interviewed Avila Beach artist Colleen Gnos a while back, she talked about this huge mural she was going to work on in the city of Dixon, where she once lived. A nod to the area’s agricultural roots, it seemed like a lofty project, requiring a mechanical lift and some really large brush strokes.
Okay, so the brush strokes probably weren’t that big. But looking at this photo, you can imagine how many brush strokes went into this.
Gnos took about a month to complete the mural, which is 65 foot above the ground at its highest point, on a building 130-foot wide. The mural itself is 46-by-32 feet. She has photos of the work through the stages on her web site.
Her website includes a story on the project by the Dixon Tribune.
