Paso Robles Christmas Parade

December 1963
Santa Claus makes a 1963 ride in a horse drawn sleigh downtown Paso Robles. Dukes Smoke Shop, Rexall, a Shell gas station and Sears are in the background. My best guess is this is 12th St. near the City Park. Looking for help from a Roblan who knows for sure.

  2. This is definitely 12th Street in Paso looking west from the Park Street intersection. Can I get your permission to use this on my website at: http://www.pasorobles-usa.com ?

    Thanks!

  3. Hi Dave,
I have to tip my hat to your web sleuthing skills. The blog is still in the design and assembly stage for the next week or two before the official launch but you found it almost as soon as it was created.

The Tribune owns the images published here, though we welcome links to the blog. The best example I can think of is BoingBoing where a small image, with full attribution to the original source, is provided along with a prominent link to the original source.

We are trying to create a website that will be a valued gathering point for the area’s historic community. Any suggestions for improvement are welcomed.

With your approval I’ll add your site to our list of local links.

Dave can stop reading here since by asking for permission he has established his bona fide troll free credentials.

A word of caution to net trolls who think everything on the web is free for the taking. The Tribune owns the copyright to content published on this site. Third-party contributors retain their copyright. Roughly 200 people make their living gathering and distributing information through The Tribune and Sanluisobispo.com. Don’t take food off their table by swiping the fruits of their labor.

I asked nicely, don’t make me call the attorneys.

  4. This is definitely 12th St. Just above the horse’s head you can see to old movie theatre that was on Spring & 12th. The Smoke Shop burned down in 1973. There is a parking lot there now. The building next to that was the Old Camera shop (now owned by Mastagnis) that was destroyed in the 2003 earthquake — Norma Moye

  5. The theater mentioned was the T & D Theater. I believe, however, that it had been torn down by 1963 as it had been damaged in an earthquake in the late 50’s.

  6. Just curious how this old photo relates to the Tribune offer to sell copies of its file photos? Is it possible to order it, pay for it, use only for personal enjoyment, or if published attribute it to The Tribune?? Tell me how that works.

    Thanks.

  7. As a public service the Tribune sells reprints for folks to put in their scrap books but retains the ownership the images. The Tribune sometimes sells images for editorial reprint but that depends on the type of image and usage.

Links to the blog are welcome with full attribution and a prominent link to the original source.

    Reprint details at:

  8. As a follow up to the reprint question, we should have a reprint site up and running in the next few weeks. I’ll put a link on the page when we have it running.
