Cal Poly Baseball 1963

Major league baseball spring training is still over the horizon but February baseball junkies can still catch a game by going to Cal Poly or Cuesta College. Today you hear the ping of the aluminum bat, but then it was wooden bats, wooden bleachers and uniforms that were gray for visitors and white for home. This was at the old Cal Poly baseball stadium site now under engineering buildings including the Grant M. Brown Engineering building and Engineering IV on Highland Drive. At least one member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame practiced and played there from 1974-77, Ozzie Smith.
