I couldn’t find a clipping to go with this photo but it fits with the hot weather we have been experiencing lately. For a kid it doesn’t get much better than a popsicle at the Atascadero Lake Pool. We should all try and enjoy the day as much the kid in the center.

  3. I sure remember swimming in the Lake pool, and canoeing/fishing in the lake. We always stopped at the lake after the SLO County Fair to relax before we headed over the grade to return all the 4-H gear and animals to the ranch out on LOVR.

    I also vividly remember the wonderfully thunderous fireworks shows at the lake on Independence Day. The whole family would make the pilgrimage up from SLO in the big Dodge station wagon. Too bad the city grew too large for the shows to continue.

  4. Thanks for the comments David & Pat. Fireworks at Atascadero Lake were a part of July 4 when I started at the paper in the 1980’s. I’ll make a note to try to find a photo next July.
