July 4, 1965
Some traditions have deep roots. Cayucos has had a July 4, parade with something wacky in it for as longer than I can remember. Pismo Beach has had fireworks.
Gone are the Pismo merry-go-round and the Ferris wheel, but we do get to pay for parking now.
Holiday weekends were tough on an afternoon paper without a Sunday edition. The parade was over 48 hours old when the Monday edition came out and the fireworks were from the evening before.
Jack Wilson and Jim Vestal provided the images.
Today you can fill your eyeballs up with information at any hour of the day. Hope you are not up to late reading this.
Hope you enjoy your 4th.
