Do you know? It was a big too do, at least 21 women on stage in bathing suits, dozens of cars line the beach and a crowd of several hundred. It was some sort of regional beauty contest, one of the sashes reads "Taft".
Sarah Linn, Tribune fashion scholar places the time at the late 1920s or early 30s. The photo came from our Pismo Beach history folder, penciled on the back is "Trib copy 3/12/57? but I can't find an article in the microfilm near that date.
