Though the writing on the print says 1949, this view of Monterey Street in San Luis Obispo is likely 10 years later. Both the Battle of Midway starring Cliff Robertson and the Crimson Kimono shared the bill on the Obispo Theater. They were released in 1959. The cars look ...

I worked at Cal Photo to help pay for my Cal Poly tuition in the early 1980’s.
Bill Hinote had bought the business from his father and for decades the two places to buy cameras in town were Jim’s Campus Camera and Cal Photo.

Set the wayback machine to the Eisenhower era.
Currently this is the record holder for oldest image from our files. Tribune librarian Sharon Morem found this print in the bottom of a manila file folder. It went with a four paragraph business brief.
