Arroyo Grande kicks off to Bishop Diego
The Cardinals start with the ball at their own 40. They gain positive yards on their first seven plays marching to the AG 9-yard line. After a run for no gain and then a delay of game penalty by Bishop Diego, the Cardinals connect on a 13-yard pass and then punch in the score on third and goal from the 1-yard line on a run by RJ Escamilla. Kick good. time of possession 4 minutes. Score: Bishop Diego 7, Arroyo Grande 0.

On th Eagles first possession Bo Cabalar had a few nice runs and a 29-yard reception. Arroyo Grande marched all the way to the 12 yard line but on first and 10 from the 12, QB Clark Goossen rolled out to his left and after crossing the line of scrimage he was hit and fumbled the ball on the 5-yard line.

Arroyo Grande just failed to convert a 4th and 4 on their 15-yard line. The Eagles lost 5 yards on a running play. Bishop Diego couldn’t capitalize and after gaining about 12 yards they were forced to punt. The punt went for 5 yards.

On their next possession, Goossen had Cabalar wide open running a seam route, but Cabalar dropped the pass.

With 1:00 left in the half, Goossen found Cabalar open over the middle, which turned into a 36-yard TD strike. After the PAT, the score is 7-7.

AG mixed in the pass to its fly offense but since the second half started they have attempted just two passes and run 10 times. Sticking with the run has been successful. The Eagles just scored on a drive that went 30 yards on five plays. Ryan Hickey scored on a tw0-yard run giving AG a 13-7 lead — the PAT kick failed.

Bishop Diego just fumbled on the AG 2-yard line.

Christian Crichton just scored on a 5-yard run with 3:00 left in the game, giving the Eagles at 21-7 lead after a 2-point conversion was successful.

Bishop Diego scored with 40 seconds left in the game on a 20-yard pass to bring the score to 21-14. The Eagles recovered the on-side kick and ran out the clock to finish with the win in their season-opener.
