And we all thought it would be “FUN” if you had the ALL COUNTY TEAM named by now.
    Well, we are waiting.

Thanks for your interest in the All-County Team. I plan to run it in next week’s paper. Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday this week it had to be pushed back, sorry for the delay.

It’s obvious that the All County MVP should be from MORRO BAY. They are the only County team still in the playoffs. There must be something valuable going on in Morro Bay.
The sorry ol PAC-7 gets drop kicked in the 2nd round like every other year.
In fact Moor Bay should get some kind of County Team award for being the only County that represents in the post season well.
Well, Mission too but that’s small potatoes.

do not throw morro bays name around like that or they might have to come play with a-town or paso.do em a favor and pipe down!

  • 6 FB fan // Nov 30, 2008 at 6:48 pm

Who is still in the Playoffs????????

Not A-town, Not Paso or Righetti, Certainly not SLO or AG.

    Not even Cal Poly.

Give them some credit. They are a TEAM this year without the big name stars of the past and they still surpassed the other County teams in playoff depth.

    not in our league

  • 8 ANON // Nov 30, 2008 at 10:24 pm

FB fan you dug your own grave. Morro Bay is small potatoes, you say certainly not SLO. From what I remember SLO gave Morro Bay a woop’n. And in turn SLO took a woop’n by three other Pac 7 teams. Morro Bay could never beat HART and I believe PASO and Atascadero would be right there with OAKS as favorites to win that CIF division. Making it to the third round of your CIF division does not earn a player on your team County Player of the Year.
I don’t think there is much of a question about who should get it but my list would include: Tenhaeff (Atascadero)
    Bridge (Paso)
    Schultz (SLO)
    Lombardi (Atascadero)
    Morrow (Mission Prep)
    Gonzalez (Morro Bay)

It did last year….Did you forget who got it already?
I honestly don’t care, I’m not a Morro Bay fan. I’m just tired of all this second round loosing. Football is a team sport. The only team in the playoffs is MB, well at least for 4 more days.

Just give it to an OFFENSIVE LINEMAN for once. They work the hardest on the team and get NO credit.

  • 10 Doc // Dec 1, 2008 at 6:31 pm

Erick is it true?? I heard that this year the Tribune is going to ask the County All-Team Players to take a VOLUNTARY Drug test in the spirit of living in a clean and drug free community. I didn’t really believe this but was wondering if you could tell us if it’s true. Not a bad idea actually.

  • 11 HUN? // Dec 2, 2008 at 10:34 am

ANON – you make some good points – Morro Bay would have a hard time in the Pac 7 and Division 4 and some bad points – Atown and PR would get killed by Oaks Christian. and some good points – MB does not have a kid on its team that is MVP – the Gonzalez kid is good but did not have the stats

  • 12 SLO Fan // Dec 2, 2008 at 11:11 am

ANON (or should I say Mr. Shultz),

Are you serious? Do you really think your son “DAVEY” deserves to be mentioned in the county POY discussion let along PAC 7 All-League??? He has been completely overrated ever since he took his fist snap at SLO High and you bought him that honor anyway. My 5 year old is tougher. Stop sucking up to the coaching staff, Tribune writers, Mitch Massey and whoever else will listen to you. Next year will be great since we SLO Fans won’t have to listen to you and your wife scream and blame the O-line for not protecting your precious little “DAVEY” and we also won’t feel embarrassed to have our quarterbacks parents get kicked out of game for being idiots (remember Paso). Nice class! There should only be 2 names up for consideration of POY honors – Tenhaeff and Morrow. Talent and numbers are whats needed.

  • 13 County MVP // Dec 2, 2008 at 1:55 pm

1 vote for Duran Gonzalez of Morro Bay.
The County MVP is someone who represents SLO and makes the County proud. Duran will get to show his stuff against Oaks Christion this week. Joe Montana will be watching. Morro Bay has VALUE. Their players are currently the most VALUE to SLO County.

  • 14 ANON // Dec 2, 2008 at 4:27 pm

I did not say Paso or Atascadero would beat Oaks i said they would be right there as favorites to win that section meaning likely two and three seeds and upsets do happen. Oaks should be up a division anyways, St Bonnies league would be a nice fit they need some competition.
This all goes back to County MVP and my original point which is Nick Tenhaeff is a clear favorite for County MVP. The kid is good enough to play division I ball and as a former player and coach at that level (i am not Mr Schultz) he is a level above most every other player in the county this is my unbiased opinion, i live in SLO. I have had time to speak with him he is a classy athlete and gives all credit to those around him. I believe he is good enough to play Pac 10 ball and i would stake my name on it. I watched Tenhaeff on defense one on one Patrick Hall of St Bonnie , one of the top recruits in the nation , twice in the open field and from what i have been told it was only Tenhaeff’s second game as a linebacker.
You people should embrace and be proud to have some great local players. Instead of bashing these players be honest with yourself if you were putting together a team of local talent who would be your fisrt pick, i know who San Diego, and Cal Poly would pick first. Grades, class, and the best local athlete equals County Player of the year.

    ANON –

I’m glad you clarified that you aren’t Mr. Shultz and that Tenhaeff is your choice for POY. For a second there I thought you were actually saying that Davey Shultz had PAC 10 talent and is a level above every other kid in this county. I almost laughed at that thought. Tenhaeff owned almost every team in this county, he ran hard and wasn’t afraid to run over somebody. I’m not sure that he’s going to have the size to play linebacker at a D1 college, but he’s definitely one of the toughest running backs to ever come out of this area. I’m sure he’ll do well as long as he keeps pointed in the right direction and stays out of trouble. There’s a lot of temptations for young kids in San Diego and Tijuana.

  • 16 Choices // Dec 3, 2008 at 8:10 am

Why any “football player” would go to San Diego State is beyond me. They go to party and get an education, not with a desire to play football after college. Why doesn’t Cal Poly try harder to get guys like this? sorry to say Nick will be on a losing team for his whole college career. Can’t imagine a linebacker as small as Tenhaeff actually getting on the field. I could see him running the ball though.

  • 17 hmm // Dec 3, 2008 at 12:14 pm

yo eric basketball season is starting up. wheres the season preview? did i miss it, or are you guys just to lazy to write one. last year scroggs wrote a pretty good one, im sure you can too.

  • 18 LPL fan // Dec 3, 2008 at 1:11 pm

I would agree with Choices. The SDSU football program has been great at recruiting, but then has no follow through. Yes, there is perhaps more exposure for a player in the Mountain West, if you are looking to go pro, but what point is there playing for a team that has little respect on campus and is listed in the ESPN Bottom Ten almost every week of the season. Perhaps things will change at San Diego with new coaching, but I think Tenhaeff should use this opportunity to re-evaluate the early decision.

  • 19 Anono // Dec 3, 2008 at 1:50 pm

Heard Cal Poly was in Atascadero today talking with some of the players, anybody know anything?

  • 20 Choices // Dec 4, 2008 at 8:08 am

I hope they are there to offer Tenhaeff a deal he can’t refuse.
It would be great to see him running in Cal Poly’s back field. But that San Diego beach party life may have seduced him to the dsrk side.

For the last 20 years we have recieved the All County Team on Thanksgiving. This year we did not. Eric said it would be out this week, this week is coming to a close.Where is it!!! I hope next year he/ the tribune will go back to the traditional way it is done. Thanksgiving is about football and all county is apart of that!!
