The Atascadero and Paso Robles High football teams had a handful of representatives when the CIF-Southern Section announced its All-Northern Division team.
Atascadero running back Nick Tenhaeff was the Greyhounds lone representative on the offensive team. Greyhounds linebacker Trevor Holloway and defensive lineman Patrick Gibbons were named to the defensive team.
Paso Robles senior center Jose Lopez was named to the offensive team and senior defensive back Robbie Boggs was on the defensive team.
Tenhaeff, named this season’s Tribune Prep Football County Player of the Year, finished his senior season with 1,833 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. In his two-year varsity career with the Greyhounds, he finished ranked third all-time in program history with 3,533 rushing yards. Carlos Adams (1979-81) holds the record with 4,495 yards.
Holloway converted from defensive line in 2007 to play linebacker in 2008. Despite serving as Atascadero’s starting fullback, he led the Greyhounds with 97 tackles (55 solo).
The Greyhounds, who won their third consecutive PAC 7 title, made it into the second round of the Northern Division playoffs but lost 6-0 to Moorpark after both Tenhaeff and Holloway were severely limited due to injuries suffered the prior week against Hart.
Lopez, a returning starter, paved the way for the Bearcats tandem of junior quarterback Thomas Bernal and senior running back Andy Bridge.
Thomas Bernal threw for 1,615 yards, 10 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, and he ran for 354 yards and five touchdowns.
Bridge had four games of 175 or more yards rushing on his way to a 1,504-yard season. He scored 21 touchdowns and had at least one in all but his final game of the season, where he was injured and forced to leave the game after taking two carries.
The Bearcats also made a second-round playoff exit, losing to St. Bonaventure 32-7. It was the only time all season Paso Robles scored fewer than 14 points and just the fourth time the Bearcats scored less than 28.
The CIF-Southern Section is expected to release its All-Northwest Division teams Wednesday.
