The only one who could ever teach me

A man was preaching. Officers talked with him, and told him to keep it down and not stand in people’s way.

1:23 p.m. Monday | End of the pier | Assist outside agency

Buzz off

A beehive was discovered at the end of the pier. Officers helped keep the public back. A beekeeper removed the hive, but asked that the area be kept clear for two hours. City crews coned off the area.

Hope it doesn’t float to Japan

Four juveniles were seen walking to the end of the pier with surfboards, and it was thought they were going to jump off. When officers arrived, they found one of the juveniles had already thrown his board in. The group was advised to walk back to the shore and wait for the board to come in.

Go play in traffic

Numerous people called 911 to say two boys were on the freeway center divider near the big rock. Officers spotted the juveniles crossing the freeway and caught up with them in front of Lighthouse Suites.  The two boys were cited and sent home with their father.

7:52 p.m. Thursday | CVS Pharmacy | Suspicious circumstances

Doesn’t even try to hide it anymore

An employee of CVS called police to say a female customer comes into the store all the time to return stuff without a receipt. The woman was just in the store, and when she walked out, the sensor alarm went off. The employee watched the woman get into a truck, and then send her daughter into the store to return an item. The employee told the daughter she had to wait while the security video was played back and that the police were going to be called. The daughter left the store, leaving the stolen item behind. The incident occurred 20 minutes before police were called.

Bet the mirror really gave her a shock

Two women at the Wine Country Inn were heard fighting. One of the women called to say she was scared and feeling threatened by the noises coming through the wall. Officers determined the woman who called appeared to bet he problem, as she was drunk.

Flower shop lingo isn’t understood by many

An employee of a health store called 911 on behalf of a person at the flower shop next door, who said someone got into the “cage” and was trying to take “lugs.” Five plastic bins worth $250 were later recovered.

Sure, I’ll be right there

A woman said she lost a check on 13th Street the day before, and had just gotten a call from a man who said he found it and wanted her to meet him at Centennial Park to cash it. The man said he needed help because he is homeless. The woman was told to have the bank stop payment on the check.

A man said he found a pair of woman’s shorts and high heels on the side of his house.

Semi-criminals

Two carloads of juveniles came to the high school and sprayed graffiti on the gym and in front near the activities center. Both vehicles were gone, but the school’s custodian was afraid it would continue. Officers found that the juveniles were seniors who had used water-based window paint and chalk on the concrete. The custodians cleaned it up; no permanent damage was done.

Totally believable

A resident called police to say a man was seen walking out from between their house and a vacant residence. The man told police he was looking for cigarette butts. He was told to stay away from the caller’s property.

Saved yourself a trip

An employee of the Paso Robles Press said a man just called their office to say his house was surrounded by law enforcement. The residence was just outside the city limits, so Paso Robles police officers called to check with the sheriff’s department, who said they were not at that location.

Are they strays?

Approximately eight boys and girls were gathered in front of the library under the tree. A woman in a low-cut black dress with a tattoo across her chest, who appeared to be in her 20s, was meeting with them. The person who called police said she was told to call 911 if she saw an adult hanging out with the teens. An officer said the woman was seen with the juveniles daily; she supplies them with water.

Some sort of grass

A resident said they found possible drugs in the landscaping that had just been cleaned up. It was unknown how long the drugs had been there. The resident said the contraband had been destroyed prior to officers arriving at the home. The resident recalled to say her father-in-law was outside when the officer arrived, and said the contraband had not been thrown away, and she wanted to turn it over to an officer. An officer came back to the home and determined the item was not drugs.

Please don’t threaten to leave

Teens tried to book a room at a hotel, but were told they could not because they were underage and did not have a credit card. The teens – two boys and a girl – were rude and said they were going to go to the Holiday Inn to get a room to party in. The employee called the Holiday Inn to warn them.

Gee, wonder why she left

A man called police to say his girlfriend took their child without permission. He said there was no custody paperwork on file, but he thought, per social services, that she was not to leave the house without the child. Officers explained to the man that there was no violation unless there was custody paperwork on file. The man then made threats to beat his girlfriend and get his child back, and then hung up.  A 911 dispatcher called back to say an officer would come out to try to help him, but the man became irate and said he was not home and hung up again.

Nice try

A resident reported a party somewhere in the neighborhood. Teenage girls who appeared to have been drinking were seen coming in and out of it. When officers arrived at the house, the lights were on and someone came to the front door and looked out. The lights were then turned off and the people inside refused to answer the door. Officers entered the home through the garage. Parents were called to pick up their children, who had been drinking.

A resident said two people just stopped at the top of the driveway. When the resident contacted them, they left. Officers found the duo, who had simply stopped in the shade to make a phone call.

An employee of Rabobank said a man walked into a locked building on Sunday while he was working. The man gained entry with a key, but all keys were accounted for. The corporate office wanted documentation.

A person was arrested for illegal possession of a shopping cart.
